I finished Psalm 19 (a couple days late) which was my Feb 1-15 passage (from memory):

Psalm 19
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.

There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.

Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the end of the world.

In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his
pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course.

It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is hidden from its heat.

The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring forever.
The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.

They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold.
They are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.

By them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.

Who can discern his errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.

For this week, I have verses 1-3 (from memory):

1 Peter 1:1-3
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to God’s elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Asia, and Bithynia, who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood:

Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Colossians 3:1-22

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. bBut now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with one another and forgive whatever grievances you may have against each one other. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord.

Well, I had a couple little punctuation errors, and said each when I should have said one in one place, but all in all not bad :) - For next week I'll work on finishing the chapter + 4:1, then move on to something else - yet to be determined :)

My passage for this week was Job 23:10-12:

I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.


AWESOME!!! This is the first time that I have been able to memorize scriptures so quickly and retain them!!! If you haven't, I would highly recommend checking out Beth Moore's Scripture Memorization Mini-Tutorial on her blog!!! It's fantastic!

I'm a little late this week because I just now put two and two together that I should work on my 24 in 12 by participating in the Memory Monday Game! :) Sometimes I'm a dork.

Here goes:

Woohoo! Only missing 1 comma! (My line ending was a little off, too, but that's hard to show on here.)

I have been a sporadic reader of the LPM (Living Proof Ministries) blog for several months, and have enjoyed a couple of Beth Moore's Bible studies in the past; however, thanks to the lovely Janell of the 5:16 club, I found this challenge for 2009.

Not only has Beth encouraged us to memorize 2 scriptures this year, she has also provided a very helpful tutorial on memorization!

I'm so excited about this, I've moved a couple of things around on my list, and added it as #4! :)

Sarah Mae at Like a Warm Cup of Coffee started the 5AM Club. The purpose of our little group is to intentionally set aside a time every day, first thing in the morning, to spend some quality time with the Lord. Sarah Mae linked to girl talk whose "Habits of Highly Effective Women" begin with she rises early. Sarah Mae changed our chapter of the club to the 5:16 club when she found this verse:

Ephesians 5:16
making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil

Getting up at 5:16AM every morning to read my Bible and pray is one way that I intend to "make the mmost of every opportunity." And the reason that I put on my goal "for 21 days straight" is because they say that in order to make something a habit, you have to do it every day for 21 days.

Lisa over at Stop and Smell the Chocolates posted the following poem in one of her Motivate Me Monday posts, and I think it is a very appropriate explantion of what I hope to gain from these times.


"In the early morning hours,
'Twixt the night and day,
While from earth the darkness passes

Then it's sweet to talk with Jesus
